The very good cinematic news in a week when everyone could use a smile is that “Bill & Ted Face the Music” is essentially everything it needed to be in order to be entertaining. In the end, it’s a long-awaited sequel that doesn’t betray the characters who were so beloved in the first place, nor does it simply repeat what people loved about them in the first place. Most of all, it’s a surprisingly likable comedy about two good guys still trying to find their place in the world, anchored by genuinely sweet beliefs about the importance of friendship, honesty, and, above all, music, that’s rooted in a genuine love of music. Be outstanding to one another, gentlemen. It is still relevant.

Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are now parents to two daughters, Thea (Samara Weaving) and Billie (Billie Bob Thornton). They’ve progressed far beyond the point where they simply need to pass their history class (Brigette Lundy-Paine). Even though they’re still married to the princesses from the first film, who are played here by Erinn Hayes and Jayma Mays, their marriages have become more fraught as time has passed. The fact that Bill and Ted believe they need to go to couples therapy at the same time is partly due to the fact that they believe both couples must be present at the same time—Bill does nothing without Ted, and vice versa. When they’re in therapy, they can’t even say “I,” so they have to use the pronoun “we.” Whatever one feels, the other feels the same way.

Unfortunately, their band, Wyld Stallyns, is still working on writing the song that will bring the entire universe together. After years of success that has waned to the point where they are now limited to playing open mics, they are still attempting to write the perfect song, and failing miserably time and time again. In a way, the song “Face the Music” is about feeling like you didn’t live up to your potential, like you failed a younger version of yourself who was determined to make a positive difference in the world.
But you shouldn’t waste any more time and start this Bill And Ted Face The Music quiz.

After all, it turns out that Bill and Ted have run out of time to complete the task that was assigned to them by Rufus—George Carlin is lovingly homaged in this film and then recast in the role of Rufus’ daughter Kelly, played by Kristen Schaal. Following therapy, Bill and Ted are whisked away to another reality by Kelly, where they meet The Great Leader (Holland Taylor), who tells them that they must write the song that will unite the entire universe, or else humanity will cease to exist. It’s already happening, as figures from the past are being zapped into the present day, tearing the fabric of time in the process. ‘Tenet’ isn’t the only time-traveling film to be released this week.

As a result, Bill and Ted decide to travel to the future in order to steal the song from themselves, which results in some wonderful and amusing sequences in which the guys meet versions of themselves in their possible futures. The majority of them are depressed and angry, and Bill and Ted realize that they will lose the princesses if they don’t take care of their personal problems as well as their work. Meanwhile, their daughters are cast in the classic B&T roles of traveling back in time to meet important figures from history, which they enjoy. They attempt to assemble the ultimate backing band to assist their fathers in saving the day, which includes Mozart, Jimi Hendrix, Louis Armstrong, and Kid Cudi, who does an excellent job as himself. Bill and Ted eventually come face to face with Death (William Sadler) once more, as well as a hesitant killer robot named Dennis Caleb McCoy, who is played hysterically by Anthony Carrigan, best known for his role in “Barry.”

A fast-paced and amusing comedy, “Bill & Ted Face the Music” is a must-see. Despite the fact that Winter fits into Reeves’ old shoes a little better than Reeves himself, Keanu’s genuine likability as an actor goes a long way in delivering some of his best lines. When it comes to these films, there is a refreshing lack of cynicism, as the characters honestly believe that friendship and creativity will bind us all together throughout history, something that seems to have registered with Winter and Reeves in their real lives, as well. These are actors who are compassionate, and this comes through in their performances. This isn’t the kind of late sequel that’s just trying to make a quick buck. It’s obvious that this is a labor of love.

About the quiz

However, the “troubled marriages” subplot is given a little too much screen time and doesn’t work quite as well as some of the best material in the film (and some of the early scenes are a little slow in terms of pacing), but it’s never anything that lasts for an excessive amount of time. By the time Bill and Ted, their equally charming daughters, Death, an unforgettable robot, and Kid Cudi are in the throes of trying to save the world, it’s a movie that almost begs you not to enjoy it more than you already do. That it’s goofy in all the right ways and that it’s never too late to face the music, but only if we do it together, is a valuable lesson. Also, you must try to play this Bill And Ted Face The Music quiz.
