Sound effects in “City Lights” are used sparingly to enhance the silent comedy without distracting viewers. If you look closely at the opening shot, as the mayor is unveiled a monument to discover Charlie resting in its arms, you will see that the mayor’s statement is rendered as a succession of incoherent screeches and screeches. Somehow, it sounds more like speech than actual words. I love the part where Charlie swallows the whistle and pauses an entire symphony by accident.

There are no other sound effects in this film, with the exception of Chaplin’s original musical composition.

Chaplin’s pantomime makes everything fully plain, therefore there are only a few subtitles.

Some of the Tramp’s most well-known experiences are featured in the story. After a stint in jail, he wins the girl’s appreciation after falling in love with a blind flower girl.

City Lights quiz

There is a boxing scene in “City Lights” that is one of the funniest sporting events ever filmed. Certain critics de 1931 felt it to be overly sentimental. The answer is no, I don’t think so. After a few sentimental moments, Charlie Chaplin turns to a comedy.

Virginia Cherrill plays a poor blind girl who is convinced by the Tramp that he is affluent. Her sight is restored thanks to Tramp’s charity, but he’s already serving a prison sentence. Her flower shop is the scene of the movie’s famous final scene. Also, you must try to play this City Lights quiz.

It was 1931, and Hollywood had already transitioned to talking pictures. It was possible for Chaplin to make a silent film using his great clout as both an independent producer and as the owner of United Artists since he was both. As a masterpiece and a box-office success, his instincts proved correct. A defining piece of American film, City Lights’ legacy has lasted the test of time.

In a boxing match, the Tramp, dejected, stumbles onto an opportunity to make some quick money. When he loses to his much more masculine opponent, he doesn’t get the prize money.

In his quest to raise the rent money for the Flower Girl, the Tramp bumps into the Millionaire on the street. “When they return home, they find that there are two burglars still at the Millionaire’s mansion.”

About the quiz

The Tramp is exceedingly grateful when the Millionaire gives him $1000 to aid the Flower Girl. Also, as the robbers are about to leave, they suddenly attack the Millionaire. On Tramp’s person, cops uncover a $1000 bill and believe he stole it.

The Tramp gets freed from prison a few months later, more disheveled than ever before. Furthermore, using the money that the Tramp offered her, the Flower Girl has created her own flower store and had her blindness cured using the money she received from him. As he walks down the street, the tramp reaches down to pick up a flower that has fallen to the ground. It’s the Flower Girl who greets him when he turns around. She doesn’t recognize him. The man grins at her as she gives him a new flower, and when she touches his hand, she quickly identifies it as the man who assisted her and with whom she fell in love. The film finishes as he smiles at her and walks away.

Her presence causes him to freeze in place for several seconds before breaking out into a big smile. “I’ve made a conquest,” she giddily tells her staff. In pantomime, she presents him a fresh flower (to replace the one he picked from the gutter) and a penny via pantomime through the window.

As she recognizes the sensation of his hand, her smile immediately transforms into a look of confusion. ‘You can see now,’ the Tramp asks. A teary smile and a deep sob accompanied the girl’s response, “Yes, I can see now.” As the final image of happiness fades away, the Tramp, relieved and thrilled, smiles back.
