About the quiz
The film is screened in Hotel Transylvania, a five-star resort. Where those who despise them can escape from the world’s monsters. The hotel has nothing other than Dracula, and he invites some of the most famous monsters to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter Mavis. They receive, however, an unexpected visitor: Jonathan, a human backpacker who falls fast for Mavis in Transylvania.
Also, knowing that the human presence will drive away other monsters in dread (you can tell they’re afraid of us). Drac is trying to get Jonathan to pose as the cousin of Frankenstein, Jonathan Stein. It is to the credit of the movie that Jonathan is, although somewhat romantic. Furthermore, a doofus, half-time ignorant of the world around him and virtually always about to do precisely the wrong thing. (He also says something like, “That thing about cape kills it!” to Drac when they meet for the first time.)
The dark humor and the idea here sometimes remind you of Monsters, Inc., but without the limitless creativity and spiraling wit, the geniuses brought to this film in Pixar. Also, no, it’s all one-note things strictly. But it’s a funny note, and the picture has a great old day that keeps giving us the same kind of gag. The heads of the Hydra struggle with each other. The Invisible Man is trying to play charades and everybody can see his spectacles. The Fly keeps vomiting carelessly. Lounging in the sauna of the hotel, the Blob removes small bits from himself to produce vapor on the coals. The most eye-catching event happens when a wolf clears a road full of sheep by eating them all—much to the disgust of his fellow monster passengers. Hey, I laughed. I laughed.
