There are certain things that “Grave of the Fireflies” did for me that no other war-themed film has ever done before. In a manner that no other war picture has ever affected me, it taught me and moved me. This movie made me cry. It made me cry because of the beauty of the main characters, Setsuko and Seita, and the anguish they were going through. While watching this film on an outdated VHS tape that didn’t do it justice, I found it to be one of the most moving, tragic, and wonderfully produced films I have ever seen. It was a fantastic film, though, anyway.
Was it possible? I didn’t think so. Unanimous? An anime film that captivated me?
