The world needs another comic book film like that of another Bush administration, but if we need one more, (and Marvel MegaIndustries’ Evil Marketing Geniuses do everything in their power to ensure that we always need), “Iron Man” is a swell. It is an excellent book movie (clever and dumb, agitated and stupid, personal and spectacular) not only a good comic but also a winner that engages even those who never cared about books of comic books or films. Just like me. Just like me.

‘Iron Man’ starts in perilous terrain: the rugged landscape of Afghanistan’s battleground. A desert convoy carrying Death Merchant and notoriously disbanded Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is speeding across the desert with a scotch in hand, flirting with the female pilot. Their convoy is notoriously dissolute.

The Hummers are embroiled by Taliban-esque combatants, American soldiers are seized, and Tony is kidnapped. Right in front of us, an IED detonates. This flashy piece of summer pulp fiction won’t be the first time that it strays a bit too far into the bloody Mess o’Potamian truth for comfort. Is that any type of political comment or exploitation? Like her idol “Iron Man,” he goes wrong, falls, and crashes, yet he re-establishes himself rapidly.

Stark sits in a rear seat, enjoys dark liquor, answers questions and pictures. One soldier asks him whether the Maxim calendar models are genuine that he went 12 a year for 12. One of the months was missing, but December was twin, so that’s right in a manner. Also, you will find out which Iron Man character are you in this quiz.

A bomb explodes a lead humvee from nowhere. Strong cover scrambles. He sees orders near him, blazoning on his side with STARK INDUSTRIES. The irony, oh. Oh. Stark survives, but he wakes in an enemy cave with a battery-bound lump of metal within his chest. This is unusual. This is unusual.

Also, the strike struck shrapnel with Stark’s armor in the chest. Yinsen (Shaun Toub), a doctor, installed an electromagnet that repels the shards of metal to Stark’s heart. Fortunately, before Stark arrived, the local Taliban tribe had jailed a heart surgeon too, or Stark Industries’ CEO would be dead.

Stark may be a handsome lad and an arrogant lothario. But while we’re imprisoned in the grotto we discover about Stark’s actual intelligence. Then, the sophisticated new Jericho missile is being ordered from Stark and Yinsen to build the Taliban. One week later, with the first Iron Man (Mark I) suit, he blasts his way out of jail. The birth of a new hero.

At the end of Marvel Studios’ first movie, Stark’s blazing admission (infamously improvised by the star Robert Downey Jr.) is probably one of the most iconic concluding lines of modern film.

About the quiz

We knew nothing at the time that one of the largest, most ambitious film franchises of all time would be launched: the spreading Marvel Cinematical Universe. However, while the critical and economic success of Iron Man now seems like a no-brainer, in the summer of 1980, it surely was not back.

Iron Man could have been one of Marvel’s most popular characters, but it’s fair to argue he doesn’t, Spider-Man or the X-Men have the influence of mainstream culture. An adaptation of the film had already been under development in 1990, but despite the hard work of three different studios (Universal, Fox, and New Line) and numerous directors and stars (Nic Cage, Tom Cruise, Joss Whedon, and even Quentin Tarantino, who are allegedly all flirting with the property at some point), there was no one who could fly a little bit.

The rights reverted to Marvel in the mid-1900s and Iron Man eventually began to grow under the new production manager, Kevin Feige, headed by Jon Favreau, and Downey Jr. At the time, that cast was also a bit of a play – because, to his well-documented off-screen problems, Downey Jr’s fame had plummeted significantly.

But Favreau went to battle for his leader. “We didn’t just want to go for a safe choice,” remarked the director at the time. “Robert’s best and worst moments were in the public glare. He had to create an inward equilibrium in order to confront problems well beyond his work. This is Tony Stark.” This is Tony Stark.”
