C.C. “Bud” Baxter is a lonely office drudge at a New York City insurance company. He permits four company executives to borrow his Upper West Side apartment, 51 West 67th Street, for extramarital affairs in order to advance up the corporate ladder. Baxter carefully manages his “booking” schedule, but the constant stream of women leads his neighbors to believe he is a playboy. Baxter obtains glowing performance evaluations from the four managers and submits them to personnel director Jeff Sheldrake, who promises to advance him – but Sheldrake also demands that he use the apartment for his own purposes starting that night. He provides Baxter two theater tickets for that evening as compensation for the short notice. Bud invites Fran Kubelik, an elevator operator in the office building, his hidden crush, to join him. She accepts, but not before meeting a “former fling,” who turns out to be Sheldrake. When Sheldrake convinces her not to split up with him by promising to divorce his wife, they go to Baxter’s apartment, leaving Baxter outside the theater.

About the quiz

When Sheldrake discovers that Miss Olsen leaked information about his affairs to Fran, he fires her, but she retaliates by spilling the beans to Sheldrake’s wife, who quickly fires her husband. With no remorse for his actions, Sheldrake believes that this situation will only make it easier to pursue Fran, despite her indications that she is losing interest. Sheldrake expects Baxter to rent out his apartment to him and Fran again now that he has been promoted to a higher position and has a key to the executive washroom. Instead, Baxter returns the washroom key, declaring that he has chosen to become a mensch, and resigns from the firm, forbidding Sheldrake from ever bringing anyone to his apartment again. He decides to leave the apartment and starts packing his belongings. Also, you must try to play this The Apartment quiz.
