Gordon “Gordie” Lachance, a writer, reads a story from the newspaper about a fatal stabbing. He remembers a time when he was 12 years old, Labor Day weekend in 1959, when he, his best friend Chris Chambers, and two other friends, Teddy Duchamp and Vern Tessio, went looking for the body of a missing boy called Ray Brower near the fictitious town of Castle Rock, Oregon. The loss of Gordie’s older sibling, Denny, caused his parents to largely ignore him as a child. Vern overhears Billy, his older sibling, discussing where to look for the body with Charlie, a friend. Billy does not want to call the police because it might make their vehicle theft with Charlie more visible.

Milo alludes to Teddy’s mentally ill veteran father as a “loony” and mentions how he nearly burned Teddy’s ear off as they jump over a fence to safety. Teddy attempts to attack Milo out of anger, but the other boys stop him.

Chris encourages Gordie to realize his potential as a writer despite his father’s opposition as the four of them resume their hike. Gordie and Vern are nearly killed by an approaching train as they cross a railroad bridge, but they manage to jump off the tracks and avoid severe harm. Also, you will find out which character are you in this Stand By Me quiz. Gordie recounts a made-up tale about “David “Lard-Ass” Hogan,” a bullied overweight boy, to the boys during their evening campfire. In an effort to exact revenge, he joins a pie-eating competition and purposefully throws up, causing everyone else to throw up in large quantities.

About the quiz

Chris confides in Gordie that he detests being linked with his family’s reputation that evening. He claims that despite confessing to the teacher about his theft of school milk money, he was still suspended because the teacher kept silent and kept the cash for herself. Chris breaks down in tears as he realizes how betrayed the instructor was. Also, you must try to play this Stand By Me quiz. The lads swim through a swamp the following day and find it to be full of leeches. After discovering one in his undergarments, Gordie passes out. The guys find the body after more hiking. Gordie is traumatized by the finding and asks Chris why Denny had to die while sobbing about his father disliking him. Gordie is consoled by Chris, who claims that his father simply is unfamiliar with him. Arriving to claim the body, Ace and his gang issue a threat to harm the boys if they continue to remain. Ace pulls out a switchblade when Chris taunts him and won’t stop. Gordie grabs the weapon, lets off a warning shot, then positions himself next to Chris and points the weapon at Ace. Gordie refuses to give Ace the firearm despite insulting and threatening him. Ace and his crew promise retribution and depart. Ray Brower’s passing shouldn’t be used for personal gain, so the guys decide to make an anonymous phone call to report it instead. They separate ways after returning to Castle Rock on foot. Gordie is completing a memoir of the event in the present. Vern and Teddy drifted apart from Chris and him in junior high, he observes. Vern got married right out of high school, had four kids, and started working as a truck driver. Due to his ear and eyesight, Teddy attempted to join the Army but was unsuccessful, so he ended up spending time in jail. Gordie and Chris both attended college prep classes together, and despite their struggles, Chris went on to become a lawyer, leading to their eventual separation. Chris was recently stabbed to death while trying to break up a fight in a restaurant. Even though Gordie hadn’t seen Chris in more than ten years, he writes that he will always mourn him. “I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve,” he says as he draws to a close. Jesus, does anyone?” before accompanying his boy outside to play.
