Aibileen Clark, the narrator, is an African-American housekeeper in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1963. Raising her two-year-old daughter Mae Mobley, whom wealthy Elizabeth Leefolt neglects because she is overweight, she works for Elizabeth. Minny Jackson, Aibileen’s closest friend, works for Mrs. Walters and her cunning daughter Hilly Holbrook, who is in charge of the women’s socialite group. Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan, a close friend of Elizabeth and Hilly who graduated from Ole Miss recently and is an aspiring writer, has been turned down by a New York publishing company. After landing a job in the area writing a housekeeping column, she becomes more and more aware of the poor and degrading working conditions of the city’s maids. One example is Hilly’s insistence on putting separate bathrooms, which she wants to be codified in the building code. Skeeter discovers that Constantine, the maid who raised her, has been dismissed by her mother Charlotte, and she decides to write a book of interviews with maids as a way to advance her career.

Hilly promptly fires Minny for obstinately using an indoor restroom during a storm that claims multiple lives. Hilly, out of retaliation, makes Minny unhireable by accusing other women that Minny had stolen from them; as a result, Minny’s teenage daughter is compelled to drop out of school and work as a maid. Aibileen overhears Celia Foote, a homemaker labeled “white trash” and shunned by the socialites, looking for a maid. Hilly’s former flame Minny is gratefully hired by Celia, who is constrained by a large, inherited home and poor cooking abilities, without telling her husband Johnny. After having a miscarriage, Celia tells Minny that she had been betrothed to Johnny before getting pregnant and miscarrying. Minny and Celia talk about Hilly’s unrequited affection for Johnny and his jealousy of Celia. The black eye Minny’s spouse gave her is being treated by Celia. But you shouldn’t waste any more time and start this The Help quiz. After listening to her pastor deliver a stirring sermon, Aibileen and Minny consent to Skeeter’s interview. Skeeter’s editor at Harper & Row, Elaine Stein, informs her that she requires the accounts of more than two maids in order to write a book, but other maids are reluctant to come forward for fear of suffering violent retaliation or losing their jobs. Aibileen speaks to Skeeter about her grief over the loss of her only child, who passed away as a result of his foreman’s carelessness following a mishap at work. For Hilly, Skeeter slow-walks an article on “separate but equal” restrooms for the Junior League newsletter, but ends up embarrassing her with a typo.

The Help Quiz

Yule May, Hilly’s new maid, begs for $75 so she can send her twin boys to college. Hilly declines to advance money to Yule May. When Yule May finds a lost ring under a couch, she pawns it, and when Hilly reports her, she is violently taken into custody. More maids tell Skeeter their tales after this incident and the murder of Medgar Evers. Also, you will find out which character are you in this The Help quiz. Skeeter, Aibileen, and Minny worry that people will identify the maids’ tales. After being fired, Minny brought Hilly her famous chocolate pie but explained that she had baked her own feces into it after Hilly had finished two slices. Hilly later forced her mother into a nursing home for laughing at her during the incident. Minny reveals the “terrible awful” as a form of insurance.

About the quiz

Concerned about Constantine’s departure, Skeeter approaches her mother. Charlotte admits that she fired Constantine because Rachel, Constantine’s daughter, disobeyed her command to enter the house through the kitchen during a Daughters of America luncheon at her residence. Later, Rachel relocated a distraught Constantine to Chicago, where she passed away. When Skeeter learns this, she sobs and leaves the room. Also, you must try to play this The Help quiz. Jackson, who is black and white, publishes “The Help” secretly and makes extensive use of it. The maids receive the equal of several weeks’ worth of pay each from Skeeter, with “more to come.” Stuart, Skeeter’s boyfriend, figures out she wrote the novel and dumps her because it’s annoying. Celia drafts a check payable to “Two Slice Hilly” to support a Junior League cause after Minny tells her the “terrible awful” news. Hilly, who is becoming more and more anxious, threatens to sue Skeeter for libel but backs down when Skeeter points out that she would have to publicly confess to the pie story. Hilly is asked to leave the land by Charlotte, who steps in and demonstrates that she is aware of the “terrible awful.” Skeeter makes peace with her mother. Johnny informs Minny that he is aware that she has been assisting him at home and that she has a secure position due to her empathy for Celia and superior culinary skills. It is made possible for Minny and her children to flee their abusive husband thanks to the assurance of future employment. In addition to having town residents sign books for Skeeter and Aibileen, members of Aibileen’s congregation recognize her for her leadership in the publication. Skeeter is urged by Minny and Aibileen to accept an employment offer in New York because she has damaged her reputation by releasing the book. Hilly accuses Aibileen of stealing silverware in an effort to get back at Elizabeth, and she pressures her to dismiss her. Hilly rushes out in tears after Aibileen challenges him, and Elizabeth tells Aibileen to leave. Aibileen bids Mae farewell while pleading with Elizabeth to adore her daughter. As she watches Mae react to “Aibie’s” departure by crying, Elizabeth breaks down in tears. Aibileen considers the circumstances, decides to stop doing housework, and makes plans for her future as a writer as she leaves the home.
